New Music Friday: Tracks from flowerovlove, Teeth Machine and more!

After a well-deserved break, Kindred. is back with a fresh new selection of releases for this week's New Music Friday. As we sink into the colder months of the year, these projects might just give you some extra warmth as we wind down towards the end of 2022.

flowerovlove - A Mosh Pit In The Clouds

flowerovlove's newest EP A Mosh Pit In The Clouds showcases a captivating new direction in flowerovlove’s sound, following the infectious and playful indie rock riffs of previous singles 'Get With You', and the jovial and irrefutably danceable 'I Gotta I Gotta'. Filled with dreamy cloud-like guitar melodies and expansive and driving percussive rhythms, flowerovlove’s honeyed and bright vocals are foregrounded in songs which reach heady new heights. The EP shines a light on flowerovlove’s versatility as an artist, from the whisper-soft, punchy pop-punk of 'All The Same' to the sweetly emotive balladry of 'Gone', flowerovlove’s poise and confidence comes across in songs that detail the nervous excitement of youth, whimsical adventures of friendship and transformative joys of self-expression.

yunè pinku - Fai Fighter

Producer / singer yunè pinku launches a new chapter in her musical journey with the evocative single 'Fai Fighter', a widescreen broadening out of her intricately crafted sound. 'Fai Fighter' expertly pairs mesmerising sound design with yunè’s trademark ethereal vocalism; the arrangement ceaselessly unfolds with torrents of Arcadian synths and soaring ambience, rising steadily towards a flurry of vocal chops and a chorus of dazzling euphoria. "'Fai Fighter’ is a sort of homage to the chaos of vulnerability." yunè says. "I imagined it existing in a metaverse arena or a futuristic realm of some sorts. I think for me I struggle to articulate the meaning of this track because it’s much more of a feeling than a specific word. But it’s sort of a phoenix rising, an embrace of femininity”

Cariss Auburn - Imaginary Me

On November 9th, songstress Cariss Auburn unveiled her four-track EP Imaginary Me after an explosive return to music with her track '50%'. On the 9th she went ahead to release new single 'Distraction' but also her entire EP Imaginary Me including 'Fantasy' and 'Milestones'. With 'Distraction' mirroring a pop-focused sonic similar to the likes of Rina Sawayama, Cariss uncovers thoughts and ideas that have been engrained within her by society. “Every now and again I’ll get hit with a wave offear about my place in life versus the person I want to be,” she explains.“I wanted to confront that withtheEP and let go of this ideal person made out of pressure and expectation. It’s a vulnerable feeling, it’s a process still and these songs are my diary entries.”

Teeth Machine - Penny

Teeth Machine found its beginnings in the close friendship and musical collaborations of Arthur Bently (saxophonist/lead guitarist) and Gray Rimmer (lead vocals/guitar). Having played together in various other projects since the age of 17 and disaffected with the music industry, the pair began experimenting with endless bedroom sessions and demos recorded on laptops and tapes, fostering a precious intimacy in their songwriting. Penny is the follow up to debut single 'Gumball', their first release on Ra-Ra Rok (Wulu, The Goa Express). Speaking about 'Penny', Gray says: "It revolves around the sensation of being so wrapped up in your predicament, and so desperate to escape it, that you can miss what's in front of you in the pursuit of that escape."

Moko - 48 PT 1

Rapid-rising south London artist Moko returns to the soundsphere with his highly-anticipated EP 48 Part 1 spearheaded by lead single 'Gleem'. The project is set for release on November 11th. Bridging soothing R’n’B sounds with heavier rap beats, South London resident Moko delivers a seven-track EP, setting him aside from his peers as he audaciously showcases his duality as an artist. The softer elements of 'Shameless' flaunts an exposed version of the artist, whilst 'Living My Life' surfaces as a melodic ode staying true yourself, and sitting on a rhythmic beat, melodic lead single 'Gleem' touches on themes of jealously, determination and strength.

HASZNAT - GAUNT/PRESSURE

In a brand new electric, dual single, HASZNAT releases the Misfya-produced tracks 'GAUNT' and 'PRESSURE' that fuses elements of drum and bass, jersey club, techno, trance and breakbeat. Steadily on the way to breaking into the heavy electronic scene, HASZNAT heavily stands alongside notions of portraying your true self and not letting anyone try and put you in a box. "READY TO MELT ANY DANCEFLOOR" HASZNAT mentions in terms of how this single is supposed to be heard and perceived as both 'GAUNT' and 'PRESSURE' force a breaking of boundaries within electro-dance and effectively merge a selection of genres expertly.
