Your guide to the most anticipated movies coming out soon in 2021

The next few months are an exciting time for movie-goers with numerous upcoming blockbusters set to be released before the end of 2021. Due to Covid-19, many movie release dates were postponed, resulting in a backlog of releases. Lucky for cinema enthusiasts, the long wait for these much-anticipated films is finally over.


Here is a list of upcoming movies to grab cinema tickets for:

Spencer – In cinemas 5 November

Kristen Stewart stars as Princess Diana in this highly anticipated biopic which follows Diana’s decision to leave her marriage to Prince Charles (Jack Farthing). Set during Christmas at Sandringham in 1991, Spencerimagines what life was like for the late princess during this pivotal time in her life.


Eternals – In cinemas 5 November

Eternals tells the story of a group of immortal beings gifted with God-like abilities, who come together to save the planet. The Marvel Cinematic Universe movie features an ensemble cast of Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, and Gemma Chan. Richard Madden and Kit Harrington from the well renowned HBO series, Game of Thrones, also star.


Red Notice – In cinemas 5 November and Netflix 12 November

Dwayne Johnson stars alongside Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot in Red Notice, Netflix’s latest blockbuster. The movie sees two notorious criminals (Reynolds and Gadot), form an alliance with an FBI profiler (Johnson) during a dangerous heist resulting in chaos.


House of Gucci – In cinemas 26 November

Inspired by the family behind the iconic Italian fashion house, House of Gucci focuses on the murder of fashion designer Maurizio Gucci. Promising style, fashion and drama, Ridley Scott directs an all-star cast starring Lady Gaga, Adam Driver and Jared Leto.


The Unforgivable In cinemas 26 November and Netflix 10 December

The Unforgivable sees Sandra Bullock reunite with Netflix for the first time following the success of 2018’s Bird Box. Based on the 2009 ITV miniseries Unforgiven, Bullock stars as Ruth, a woman released from prison into a society that won’t forgive her past. The formidable Viola Davis and Vincent D’Onofrio are also starring.


West Side Story – In cinemas 10 December

Steven Spielberg directs and co-produces West Side Story, which is the second feature-length adaption of the 1957 Broadway musical of the same name. The musical features newcomer Rachel Zegler and Baby Driver’s Ansel Elgort who star in the lead roles of Maria and Tony respectively.


Don’t Look Up – In cinemas 10 December and Netflix 24 December

If you’re after a star-studded ensemble cast, this Netflix sci-fi comedy offers just that. From Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio to Timothée Chalamet and Meryl Streep, the movie also features cameos from Ariana Grande and Cate Blanchett. Don’t Look Up tells the story of two low-level astronomers who must warn the public of a deadly approaching comet by partaking in a media tour.


Spider-Man: No Way Home – In cinemas 17 December

Tom Holland returns to reprise his role as Spider-Man in Marvel Studio’s latest instalment in the franchise. The movie focuses around Spider-Man’s identity having been revealed and no longer being able to separate normal and superhero life. Zendaya returns as MJ with Jamie Foxx as Electro and Tom Hardy as Venom also starring.


The Matrix Resurrections – In cinemas 22 December

The Matrix Resurrections marks the return to the cult classic Matrix franchise after almost twenty years. Both Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprise their original roles of Neo and Trinity, who after all this time find themselves back inside The Matrix.
